LIVING HISTORY : :

Heritage Village – Living History Experience was started in 2007 to offer school groups studying pioneer life especially the early history of Texas a venue for students to spend several hours of study in a fun filled historic setting. Located at the beautiful tree shaded 11.5 acre Heritage Village site, the Experience covers eleven stations that currently include: Native American history, Sewing, Livery Stable with Chuck Wagon, Blacksmith Shop, Cabinet Shop, Log Cabin and Smokehouse, General Store, Ranger Office, Candle Shop, Adobe Making and Horno, and Water Conservation. Groups usually arrive between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and leave around 1:30 (The time quoted includes a 30 minute lunch break in which students may bring a sack lunch to enjoy in Heritage Pavilion.) In addition to demonstrations by knowledgeable volunteers, there are planned games and activities to allow all students to participate.

Living History tours are seasonal and by appointment only.  Most of the activities have some form of shelter allowing us to accommodate tours on misty days.  We are currently booking tours for the Spring 2008 season which begins after Folkest on April 12 –13 and lasts until the middle of May.  A Fall 2008 schedule will be considered if there is a large demand.  Tour admission is $5 per student with teachers and chaperones admitted free. We can handle up to 120 students per session.  Contact us for further information.
